iPhone Forensics

Jonathan Zdziarski will be using examples from his latest book, iPhone Forensics, to demonstrate forensic techniques on an iPhone running the latest firmware (2.1) from his Macbook running Leopard. He'll cover bypassing the passcode, installing a forensics recovery toolkit, and will present an overview of the kind of evidence that can be recovered from an iPhone, including GPS data, map tile reassembly, typing cache, and more. We'll fit as much as we can into the short time period we have. Jonathan will be touring various cities in the US this fall with O'Reilly Media, giving two-day long forensics workshops for law enforcement, enterprises, and those interested in the field of computer forensics.

This looks like an highly notable meeting for potential iPhone developers, even if you think you're going to use Apple's SDK. Recommended for all.

Jonathan will try to raffle off a copy of his book for trivia answers.

Show us your code!

What have you been doing on the Macintosh lately? Run into a problem? We're looking for people to show off their code, their applications, or the new programming tool they've come to love. We're always looking for good speakers on a wide range of technical topics. Good topics include: discussion of some part of the Mac OS that you've learned about the hard way, an introduction to some development environment or tool that might be of interest to others, etc.
